Start with five-round Classic.

Use the standard 4 Throws rules. Take turns rolling up to four times, holding the dice you want to keep, then record your final score. After five rounds each, add your totals. The highest total wins. Alternate who goes first each round so neither player is always setting the score to beat.

Turn it into a best-of-three match.

For a different rhythm, play up to three short games of three rounds each. Win two games to win the match. Reset the scores between games. A single brilliant roll can win a short game, but it can’t carry the whole evening. Use the usual one-throw tiebreaker if a game ends level.

Try a cooperative house challenge.

Work together instead. Play five rounds each and combine all ten turn scores. Pick a shared target before you start; 250 is a suggested first experiment, not a tested difficulty rating. Discuss which dice to keep if you like. Beat the target, then raise it by 10 next time. Miss it, and pick a new target together.

Keep a tiny record book.

Write the date, format, and final scores on one sheet. Add a note about the best roll or the moment someone should absolutely have stopped. The running history is often more entertaining than the scores themselves.

Let the evening find its own pace.

Play one game over coffee, take a break between matches, or bring the dice along for a weekend away. A small game works best when it fits your evening. The printable kit adds Close Call and The Climb when you feel like trying a different kind of decision.

Bring something good to the table.
